Backstory uses its proprietary process, Message Market Fit®, to help companies develop marketing messages that resonate with their customers, and he builds comprehensive marketing messaging frameworks and brand narratives followed by brand activation, including website copy, social media posts, landing pages, etc. Before starting Backstory, Jed worked in marketing and business development for various companies, including IDEO, a global design consultancy based in Silicon Valley that created the design thinking movement.

Outside work, Jed enjoys spending time with his family, supporting the arts, exploring the outdoors, and researching his Swedish family history. He has a degree in design from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.

The purpose of Backstory’s Executive Assistant role is to handle administrative duties for the business, supporting the CEO and operations manager to enable them to focus on defining and building out the company's vision and systems for growth.

Key responsibilities:

🧾 Scheduling interview appointments for client projects using Calendly.

📦 Managing the email nurture program for prospective clients through Backstory’s email nurture tool.

📦Marketing Backstory online to generate qualified leads.

💼 Conducting trademark searches.

📑 Coordinating the trademark application process.

🗓️ Implementing changes to the company's website.

🧾 Supervising targeted online marketing campaigns.

📊 Overseeing domain negotiations and transfers.

Working Hours ⏰: Full-time. Ideally, your working hours will align with the CEO’s time zone (MST) until noon or later, Monday through Thursday. If possible, matching the CEO’s daytime schedule and extending into your evening hours would be appreciated but not mandatory. You're welcome to adjust your workday to have your Friday evening hours free starting at 5:00 p.m. local time.

To excel in this role, you need to have:

✅ Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques.

✅ Hands-on experience overseeing implementing and expanding a comprehensive email nurturing program to advance discussions with potential clients.

✅ Previous responsibility for establishing and managing a company's email system.
