Right now, LDS is looking for a Senior Accountant/Controller to help manage the finances and accounting of the company. This is an exciting and dynamic role that comes with lots of ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a big impact on the company.

The Senior Accountant/Controller will be joining a team with extensive experience in marketing, sales, and design. In this role, it will be critical for you to plan and direct all accounting operational functions.

As a strong communicator and skilled auditor, you will make it your mission to streamline their budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. They are seeking someone specifically with auditing experience at one of the top-tier accounting firms or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate will fully understand accrual-based accounting at a publicly traded company level. Working hours will align with a PST time zone with room for flexibility as long as there is some overlap with the team.

More specifically, in this role, you will:

• Lead the operations of the finance team which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
• Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
• Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
• Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analysing, and reporting appropriate data points
• Reconciling bank deposits to Stripe and other payment processors, and reconciling bank accounts
• Examine financial statements and inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency
• Achieve budgeting goals, maintain daily cash management, and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
• Coordinate all audit activity
• Create month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

In order to excel in this role, you need to have:

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Full knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
• Excellent understanding of QuickBooks
• Well-versed experience in accrual-based accounting at a publicly traded firm
• 3+ years of experience as an auditor at a top-tier accounting firm or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
• Management experience, leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and empower team members
• Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
• Willingness to participate in the hiring of other roles, such as bookkeepers
• Good work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to get things done independently without active management
• Excellent organisational skills
