Newfangled is a digital marketing consultancy. We work primarily with small-to-medium sized creative firms, digital shops, etc. We help these companies market themselves and track the success of their marketing. To help them do this, we offer a collection of in-house WordPress plugins, and a custom-built Laravel analytics/synthesis/AI application.We've more than doubled in size over the past year, with no signs of stopping.

More clients rely more heavily on our tools, which creates a great opportunity to get them features that genuinely help their success as a business.We're fully remote, and have developed a strong culture as a remote organization.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be the right hand person for the CTO, Dave.

This is a core development role and will work directly and closely with the CTO on all kinds of work and challenges including new features for Newfangled's products, primarily the Laravel application (Insight Engine) and WordPress plugins as well as a variety of technical challenges and future opportunities.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Developer will include:

• The growth and stability of Newfangled's analytics and reporting platform, the Insight Engine
• Shaping the vision and trajectory of this platform's growth, in response to client needs and the changing competitive landscape.
• As the #2 technical role in the company, you will help me to figure out the best technical solutions to challenges. You’ll keep up to date on emerging technologies and opportunities and you’ll be excited by the idea of robust technical conversations where we debate different options and the pro’s and cons of each before taking ownership of proof of concept and implementation.
• Ideally, the ability to take on other maintenance tasks as needed, such as: WordPress theme/site changes, CSS style changes, etc

Things you’ll be working on when you start with us:

• We’ve got a whole variety of tasks and projects lined up needing attention, two in particular are:
  • Replacing the Laravel applications legacy static "blade" UI with a more dynamic VueJS-powered front-end
  • Working to replace cumbersome direct API connectors with a more scalable data-lake solutions, such as Supermetrics and BigQuery

We are only interested in candidates looking to become a long-term member of a small creative team. As the “#2” technical role in the company, you should be excited about the opportunities and influence this offers, as well as the creativity and autonomy this type of role requires.

The tech stack of the most suitable candidate:

• Laravel/PHP.
• VueJS (or similar)
• Basic web dev technologies - CSS, JavaScript, NPM, gulp, etc
• Familiarity with AWS systems such as EC2, RDS, and Elasticache.

• WordPress plugin authoring/maintenance

Work schedule:

• Full time position (8 hours per day, 5 days per week)
• Flexible schedule (with some 3-4 hour overlap with US EST)
