About Evolving Home

Evolving Home is a new content site focusing on provide how-to's, recommend products, and design ideas for readers who are looking to upgrade or renovate their homes.

We are ambitious, work hard, but understand work/ life balance. We believe in self-improvement, continuing education, and are willing to invest in you to help you keep improving.

For our content operation, we would like to get up to producing 50 - 75 articles a month that will require editing and brief creation.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for an English content editor on a native or near-native proficiency level, who has an eye for detail and commands perfect grammar skills. Experience with working in a remote setting is a must (remote teams, managing).

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a really great Managing Content Editor who will play a key role in delivering exceptional content, from working with our team of writers as well as writing content to impress our readers.

The role will be interacting with the business owner as well as our team of content writers.

This role's responsibilities include:

  • Editing up to ~20 articles (will be less while part-time) and outlines per week (~500 - 2,000+ words each), ensuring they are fact-checked and meet Evolving Home Quality Standards
  • Creating up to ~20 content briefs (will be less while part-time) for writers based on Evolving Homes researching and writing template guides
  • Educating our writers around good content in form, structure, and technical aspects in drafts, in live training sessions (if needed)
  • Providing support and constructive feedback to writers to help them improve their craft in drafts and one-on-one
  • Improving existing editing processes
  • Making sure the writers have topics to write weekly and continue to meet their deadlines
  • Helping Evolving Home hire writers by reviewing applications and writing projects, and eventually interviewing candidates

You're a fit for the Managing Content Editor role if:

  • You have a proven track record of successful writing and editing long-form content, ideally home improvement, home decor blog posts, guides, and/or ebooks
  • You have experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring writers or non-writers
  • You can communicate why changes should be made, not simply fix errors or improve writing
  • You can patiently explain writing concepts from multiple perspectives, multiple times
  • You're organized, independently motivated, wants to grow as an editor, and love coaching writers
  • You know how to balance feedback with encouragement
  • You're willing to step back from day-to-day editing work to improve existing processes and systems to ensure Animalz delivers quality content to every customer

This role requires:

  • A demonstrated ability to understand content marketing strategies and edit individual pieces to align appropriately
  • A desire to help writers improve their craft and elevate content to the highest quality
  • Familiarity with google docs, google sheets, and WordPress
  • Strong interest in home improvement, home design, or home decor is a plus, and a thorough knowledge of the top content and thought leadership in these fields

  • Experience in a client-facing content/SEO role
  • Experience working with content management systems like WordPress
  • Super productive and self-motivated
