Growth Marketer [CLOSED]

Part Time 1500.00 - 2500.00 USD Type: Monthly

Jessica Malnik is the founder and chief content strategist at JM Content Group, which helps clients with content marketing strategy and copywriting.

In addition, the company also run its own content websites - including The Remote Work Tribe (a.k.a. RWT) that we use to dog food ideas and processes. We don’t just help clients – we are using all of the same strategies and processes to run and grow our own, homegrown media company.

You’ll work closely with Jessica - the founder - and be given the tools and support you need to make an impact from day one.

Make no mistake, this isn’t a role for an order taker. If you want to clock in, and simply execute tasks from someone else‘s strategy, then this role isn’t a good fit.

You will be expected to work on strategy from the get-go. If you are the type of person who likes pitching a new idea on Monday and then running your own experiment to validate it by Friday, then you’ll fit right in.

You’ll also have the opportunity to lead your own projects, document your learnings (on RWT), and see the impact of the work that you do from day one.

Jessica is looking to hire a talented marketer to join our small, but mighty team to help take our tiny company to the next level. If you might have guessed by now, this isn’t an ordinary, client-facing role.

In fact, you won’t be working with clients at all. This is an internal marketing role. You’ll specifically be in charge of growing one of our own sites (The Remote Work Tribe). RWT strives to be the go-to indie media company for founders, CEOs, and marketers leading remote-first teams. Your north star KPI will be growing the number of email subscribers.

Now, we’ve tried a few things in the past. A couple of them have worked well; a few more have potential in the right person’s hands (hopefully yours) and countless ideas are yet to be uncovered; that’s where you come in!

We are looking for someone willing to roll up their sleeves, pitch ideas, and execute. The Growth Marketer to join will be the first marketing hire on the team, and as such, they will have an enormous amount of impact on the future growth of the company.

As this is not a typical role, the actual responsibilities may vary based on your skillset and the ideas and strategies you pitch. Here are some examples of some growth-related tasks you might be doing:

  • Create and manage our content calendar across social media (mostly Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram).
  • Be active on Twitter, Instagram, and email (Both starting new conversations, replying promptly and sometimes some cold outreach),
  • Assist with research and writing for our newsletter and podcast
  • Repurpose existing content assets into new formats. (e.g., creating audiograms, Twitter threads, animated gifs, etc.)
  • Identify new social media and email list growth opportunities
  • Build relationships with micro-influencers to expand our audience and grow our email list.
  • Participate in weekly 1:1s with Jessica (the founder).

To excel as a Marketer at JM Content Group, you need to be:

  • A natural connector - You thrive in a role where you have the chance to meet, connect with, and chat with smart people online.
  • Curious- You are always tinkering with something. The idea of being given free rein to come up with ideas and then be able to run experiments on the fly excites you. This isn’t a corporate role where every single task needs to go through three levels of management and legal. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Self-motivated - JM Content Group is a 100% remote team and has been from the get-go (since 2018!). You must be able to manage your own workload, work autonomously, and take full responsibility for the projects you are working on.
  • Problem solver - If you run into a roadblock or don't know how to do something, your first instinct is to Google it. If you are still struggling, you reach out to the team with some suggested ideas for how we might be able to solve the problem.
  • Excellent communicator - The team mainly uses Trello, Slack, ZipMessage, and Zoom to communicate and collaborate on projects and tasks.
  • Reliable - You do what you say you are going to do. You never miss deadlines.
  • Experienced with remote work - You have AT LEAST 6 months of remote work experience. This could be from a full-time job or freelancing.

Brownie points for

  • Prior experience leading or working on influencer marketing strategies and campaigns

What’s in it for you?

  • $1500 - $2500* per month paid in USD, depending on your experience and availability
  • Part-time employment
  • Work from anywhere - This is a 100% remote opportunity and you can work from anywhere in the world as long as you complete your work on time and have a minimum of 2 hours of overlap with U.S. MST business hours. (i.e. for Zoom calls and real-time conversations on Slack)
  • Work with a passionate and innovative team in a calm work environment - we work hard, but we are also not performing open-heart surgery either. You aren’t expected to be on calls or replying to emails and social media mentions when you aren’t working.
  • Generous bonuses available based on hitting / exceeding agreed-upon metrics.
  • Receive weekly mentorship and coaching from the founder

*Please note that this is a gross salary and that you are responsible for any tax-related procedures in your country of residence. We kindly ask you to apply only if you are happy to work remotely as an independent contractor.

This position will be closed as soon as we find the perfect match. So, make sure to read the description carefully and take your time to submit a high-quality application that stands out.

If you apply, JobRack will respond promptly and keep you updated throughout the process.

As part of the hiring process, please then expect the process to include:

1 - Filling in the application form once you click “Apply”

3 - Completing test tasks, if short-listed

4 - Attending video interviews where you will have the opportunity to talk more about your previous experience and the new role
