SEO Specialist [CLOSED]

Are you excellent at auditing and optimizing existing content for improved SEO performance? Do you have experience creating writer briefs based on keyword research that you completed?

Sandwich Digital built and operates a portfolio of content sites in the home and kitchen space. Our content team also works to create content for several partner sites.

We're looking for an SEO Specialist to join the team part-time (20 hrs/wk), with an opportunity to expand the relationship.

In this role, you'll be responsible for 3 main activity sets,

• Content Briefs - You will be provided with a seed topic, complete keyword research, assess the viability of the topic and make recommendations, and create a content brief for the editorial team. You'll work closely with an editor to ensure briefs meet site philosophy and editorial standards, in addition to the sound SEO planning that you will complete.
• Content Audits - Audit previously published content for quality, performance, and opportunities for improvement. You should be able to identify content gaps, cannibalization, and other competitive opportunities. Add and update content, where appropriate, and suggest larger “update” work to the editorial team.
• Content Optimization - Optimize existing articles to meet our best practices for on-page, schema, and internal linking. And also conduct new on-page tests to improve our data-driven understanding and approach to what works. Expand winning tests across our properties.

You must have experience using:

• Ahrefs
• Surfer SEO or Google NLP API
• WordPress
• RankMath
• Google Sheets

The ideal candidate also:

• Read the most recent version of Google's search quality rater guidelines in full
• Read and become familiar with Google's documentation on how to “write high-quality product reviews”
• Excellent communication skills in American English
• Experience formatting & publishing posts in WordPress and working with custom blocks
• Experience auditing, adding, and modifying internal links to relevant
• Experience editing articles for voice, tone, and overall article flow
• Clear understanding and working experience with on-page SEO best practice
• Willingness to test pre-existing opinions of what works, adapt your understanding and approach based on outcomes

This role is as a remote independent contractor. Working hours. Working hours are flexible, though would prefer ~2 hours daily (M-F) to overlap with USA working hours (GMT-6). You must have a fast and reliable internet connection, be self-motivated, highly organized, and have a strong internal desire to learn. We're not looking to micromanage, so you must be able to work autonomously.
