Introduction to the role

We are Lustelle, a new but growing beauty brand based in Australia that gives back to women emerging from less-fortunate life situations. We believe in beauty both inside and outside, so we give our community an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than just beauty products. However, our products are also quite good ;)

We are looking for an ads/creative strategist to spearhead the creation of ads for our brand. You will be an integral part of our growth, strategising and directing content creators for particular campaigns, and then working 1-1 with our video editor to compose content into highly converting advertisements.

In short - you will be in charge of making our ads!

The position right now is part time and 20 hours per week, however as we grow there will be an increased demand for more work and higher level work too. We'd love to train you into our future creative director.

About the role

Our Ads Strategist role will be directly responsible for our advertising performance on paid social channels, primarily facebook, instagram and youtube. However you will be creating ads, not managing them.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of direct response marketing, copywriting, and creatives that convert.

We firmly believe that the creatives do 80% of the heavy lifting in our online marketing efforts. You’ll be working closely with our founder and director, along with our video editor to make sure our creatives are doing that heavy lifting!

If you’d been working for us over the past month, some of the tasks and projects you’d have worked on would include:

  • Planning our in-person content shoot in Melbourne, including posting jobs to creator sites, messaging ambassadors, vetting appropriate applicants, educating them on the shoot and assigning times for them to come in.
  • Managing our UGC content creation funnel, back and forth conversations and negotiations with creators and ambassadors, directing specific content needed and approving/rejecting content.
  • Working with our video editor to chop up content into fast-paced and high converting ads
  • Weekly inspiration and training sessions to stay at the forefront of advertising trends and styles
  • Creatively strategise new ad campaign content and video structures
  • Write complimentary ad copy for the creatives
  • Managing ad comments and feedback on platform to analyse ad performance and audience sentiment
  • Analyse key metrics of ad performance to draw conclusions about the content and style of creative which works best for our audience

About You

If you match the following criteria, chances are we'd love to have you on our team!

  • Experience with assembling direct response ads, and ideally experience in creating the content for those ads
  • A genuine interest in copywriting principles and consumer psychology
  • You're passionate about brand, design, messaging, and sales – we're looking for someone who likes to create beautiful things but also wants to drive revenue
  • You're a wordsmith – you can write copy that people feel in their gut
  • You think in sequences – for example, you repeatedly come up with unique combinations of messaging and visuals that drive results
  • You have a keen eye and hawk-like attention to detail – nothing gets by you
  • You don't need to have direct experience but you do need a track-record of creating content
  • You're analytical – you're not afraid of numbers, you can recognize patterns in copy and you can apply your findings to the real world
  • You're empathetic – for both your coworkers and those you advertise to
  • Familiarity with FB Ads and/or Youtube Ads a plus
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • An excellent communicator who gets along well with others and appreciates feedback
  • A forever student mindset, always excited to learn and improve your skills
