At the core of Thunderforest is the visionary founder, Andy Allan, who embarked on his mapping journey in 2006 as a volunteer contributor to OpenStreetMap, armed with only a hand-held GPS and a fervour for exploration. Under Andy's leadership, Thunderforest has evolved into a dynamic entity, maintaining an expanding library of map styles derived from OpenStreetMap data, crafting bespoke maps, and implementing technical enhancements. Notably, our globally celebrated OpenCycleMap is embraced by millions of cyclists worldwide.
