Hi, Ashton here, owner of WP SiteKit.

We’re a small web design agency that builds and maintain WordPress websites for small businesses. We believe in getting results for our clients in the most effective way possible.

  • We get visitors to our client’s websites with SEO best practices
  • We design very attractive and professional-looking websites that impress the visitor
  • We work in persuasive web design elements and use CRO tactics to generate leads for our clients

We’re looking for a WordPress web designer with a focus on marketing to help us design, build and maintain these websites.

About This Role

This is a part-time freelance role, about 20 hours per week is expected, and fully remote.

Salary is negotiable depending on your experience. We will pay $10-15 an hour depending on skills.

The stronger skills you have in design, landing page optimization, copywriting and SEO the better. But you’ll be working with the owner directly to continuously improve your skills.

We are a very small company with an owner and a few freelancers. You will be the first part-time employee.

How We Work

We love to keep things simple and efficient by using WordPress, Astra theme, Beaver Builder and our favorite premium plugins.

We use templates and established processes whenever possible to make our job easier and get better results.

You will primarily work on your own timeline but will have a meeting with the owner 3-4 times a week in the hours of 7:00 - 12:00 AM central standard time.

We strive for a good work/life balance by keeping reasonable timelines and only taking on projects we know we can complete easily.

You will be assigned a work email address for you to use for all work-related emails and use our project management system, ClickUp.

The owner will do most of the client communication but you will sometimes need to message the client directly to answer your web design questions. So strong English skills are a must.

This is a great job for someone with good web design experience to improve their skill and learn best practices around user experience design, conversion rate optimization and marketing.

In a typical week, you should expect to have 3-5 short meetings to review the tasks and discuss how to complete them. Tasks will typically include designing a new website with the homepage, service pages, landing pages and helping publish blog posts from the content delivered by the client. You will learn to use RankMath to further search engine optimize pages and sometimes write things like title tags, description tags, image alt tags, etc. Most of the time the instructions and content are very clear but sometimes you will need to use your UX skills to make a site map from messy content, write titles, short content or call to action. But everything you do will be reviewed by the principal designer and instructed on how it can be improved.

Technical Skills

  • Must have training and experience in visual design, web design and be familiar with UX
  • Must be able to work with WordPress, Astra Theme, Beaver Builder and Elementor as the core layout design tools
  • Should be efficient with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for generating and editing graphics
  • Must layout most of the design the page builder but be able to write some custom CSS when needed to fix layout issues.
  • Should be familiar with or open to learn CRO (conversion rate optimization) and some marketing copywriting best practices and apply these to your design
