Newfangled is a digital marketing consultancy with clients around the world. We work primarily with small-to-medium sized creative firms - these tend to be advertising agencies, development shops, and other experts who rely on Newfangled to help them with their marketing needs. We help these companies market themselves and to track the success of that marketing.

One key way we serve our clients is by helping to make their website a more effective marketing tool. We do this by providing a number of powerful and proprietary WordPress plugins, as well recommending strategic and structural changes to their site. The goal of all of these tools and changes is to improve the visitor experience and better drive conversions. Many of our clients use WordPress as their website platform, and this role will be directly involved in helping our clients achieve the full benefits of our plugins and recommendations.

We're fully remote, and have developed a strong culture as a remote organization.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be heavily involved in making updates to our client's existing WordPress sites. It may occasionally involve building an entirely new WordPress site, following Newfangled’s standards and best practices. Newfangled maintains an extensive set of proprietary WordPress plugins, and this role will become deeply familiar with how these plugins work and how they can be installed and configured on our client's sites.

The ideal candidate will be able to assist in the development and support of these plugins.

This role will be interacting with the CTO, Director of Operations and Chief Design Officer.

Your main responsibilities as a Wordpress Developer will include:

• Making structural changes to existing WordPress sites. Following the existing look-and-feel of the site, updating the site's template and CSS structure (not simply installing a plugin) and testing these changes at all mobile sizes, and in all modern browsers.
• Coordinating the deployment and testing of changes to production environments.
• Installing and configuring Newfangled's plugins on existing WordPress sites and styling new functional elements to match the existing look-and-feel of the existing site.
• Troubleshooting issues and answering questions that other developers have about the prior installation and functionality of Newfangled's plugins.
• Assisting in the growth and support of Newfangled's proprietary plugins.
• Implementing HTML email templates for Newfangled's clients.

ABOUT YOU

We are only interested in candidates looking to become a long-term member of a small creative team.

The tech stack and skills of the most suitable candidate:

• HTML
• CSS
• JavaScript
• Ability to apply existing look-and-feel to new elements using CSS
• Experience with sites using the Gravity Forms plugin
• 5+ years working on a number of different WordPress sites, both building and maintaining
• Some experience working with WordPress plugins, ideally having helped create and support at least one plugin

Work schedule:

• Full time position (8 hours per day, 5 days per week)
• Flexible schedule (with some 3-4 hour overlap with US EST)
