About the company

The StoryLearning team is expanding and we’re looking for a part-time customer support assistant to help us better serve our students’ needs and maintain our high customer experience standards.

StoryLearning is an online education company which helps students from around the world learn new languages through the power of story. We're a passionate team of 15 people dedicated to ensuring our students have the best possible learning experience and can connect with others around the world as a result of their new found language skills.

About the role

This is a part-time role and would be a great fit for someone who is passionate about languages, wants to help others achieve their language goals and is looking for a remote part-time opportunity to supplement other income/activities. There won’t be a large number of hours initially, but there is scope for more work over time for the right applicant.

In this role, you will be assisting our customer support manager in responding to student questions, comments and problems. This can include everything from pre-purchase questions about our courses to refund requests, technical support and even questions about how best to study with our courses.

On the plus side, you will learn quickly about how StoryLearning works and connect daily with like-minded language learners. On the negative side, this is a part-time role involving a lot of technical, repetitive, and sometimes tedious work.

However, for the right person, there is scope for future progression within the company - we’re always keen to offer more opportunities and responsibilities to people who demonstrate desire and ability.

Key Details:

  • Part-time: 5 hours per week (guaranteed minimum), with the possibility for more during busy periods
  • Salary:  USD $5-8 per hour
  • Location: Fully-remote

About you

Responsibilities:

The core responsibilities of this role involve assisting with the following:

  • Responding to questions, comments and complaints from students
  • Dealing with technical support requests and finding quick and practical solutions
  • Communicating with our product and marketing teams to resolve technical issues quickly
  • Taking ownership of support requests you receive and seeing them through to a conclusion

Person specification:

It is essential that you possess the following qualities:

  • **Understanding of the Language Learning experience** (IMPORTANT) - As a language learning company, it’s important to us that our customer support team are language learners themselves and understand the challenges, doubts and roadblocks our students face
  • Great Communication and People Skills - The ability to listen to and respond to our students needs and requests with clarity, empathy and encouragement
  • Attention to Details - Ability to look at the bigger picture, identifying patterns and flaws
  • Ownership - Comfortable taking on responsibility for the support requests received and seeing them through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Problem Solving - Understanding scenarios, making decisions, and suggesting appropriate answers/solutions according to available resources
  • Comfortable with Technology –Learning and adapting to the various technologies and tools we use on a daily basis to run and deliver our courses
  • Time Management - Organized and reliable and responsive
  • Native-like level of written English - This role involves direct communication with customers in English so we require a native-like level of written English.

Previous knowledge of ZenDesk would be beneficial, but is not a requirement for this position.
