Gompels Healthcare Ltd is currently looking for a PHP Developer to join their team.

In this role, you will:

๐Ÿ”ง Maintain and develop gompels.co.uk: Take ownership of both the customer-facing component and the administrative company component of the website.

๐Ÿš€ Enhance customer experience: Continuously develop and implement new features, tools, and improvements to enhance the overall customer experience on the website.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Drive sales: Utilize your development skills to implement strategies and features that drive more sales on gompels.co.uk.

๐Ÿ”จ Create new tools: Develop new tools and features to assist customers and improve their experience on the website, such as the environmental dashboard to track plastic use and carbon footprint.

๐Ÿ’ผ Develop administrative tools: Build custom web-based tools to support the internal team, improving efficiency and enabling better customer support.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Prioritize customer satisfaction: Ensure that every task and project aligns with the goal of providing the best possible experience to the customers.

๐Ÿค Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with other teams, such as design, marketing, and customer support, to gather requirements and implement solutions that align with the company's objectives.

๐Ÿ“š Stay updated on industry trends: Continuously learn and stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in web development to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

During the initial weeks, you will be swiftly onboarded with a summary of the website setup. The company prioritizes getting things started right away, without prolonged introductions or extensive training sessions. Instead, you'll jump right into an exciting project right away!

This is a full-time position and the working hours of the company are from 8 AM to 5.30 PM UK time. Although there can be a little flexibility, the majority of your working hours should fall within this timeframe to ensure availability for the customers and team.

For the right candidate, this position can also be considered on a part-time basis.

Within a small team, you will get a real chance to make a difference to the customers and employees. You'll be working with one other PHP Dev and reporting directly to the MD with no restrictive middle management hoops to jump through. Write your code, test your code, and in some instances, see it live the same day! No silly bureaucracy - itโ€™s all about customer experience, Also, the company is always up for new ideas and technologies!

To excel in this role, you need:

  • 3-5 years of experience with an eCommerce platform
  • Proficiency in PHP 8, including knowledge of its latest features and best practices
  • Strong understanding of HTML 5, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and practices
  • Familiarity with the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural pattern
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL
  • Experience working with message brokers and understanding of their concepts
  • Knowledge of working with APIs and integrating third-party services

Brownie points for:

  • AWS experience: Running large websites in an AWS environment, familiarity with AWS services and deployment tools
  • NodeJS: Proficiency in Node.js development and building server-side applications
  • RabbitMQ: Experience with RabbitMQ or other message brokers and understanding of message queuing patterns
  • Docker knowledge: Familiarity with Docker containers and containerization concepts
  • vQMod and OpenCart: Experience with vQMod and knowledge of OpenCart
