GMB Fitness creates online training programs that make movement skills accessible to all fitness levels. They have been teaching online since 2010 with over 100k happy clients all over the world. They distil the best from various fitness training styles, physical therapy, yoga, martial arts, and others, all filtered through a pedagogy based on decades of teaching.

They teach their clients to build physical autonomy, which is what fitness should be instead of what it is – spandex, spray tan, and protein shakes. It means that their clients learn to do what they want with their bodies – be that sport or just living a life without having to worry about aches and pains slowing them down. Their clients choose GMB because they like the fun and unique programs, the attitude of the team and the support they offer, as well as the systematic curriculum that takes the guesswork out of their training.

The GMB team is irreverent, fast, engaged and focused on learning, with a focus on making a really great product for clients who love them (seriously, check the reviews out by clicking here). The core team are funny, weird, and close; they love chatting about books, music, and food. Everyone works directly with the founders and the whole team interacts with clients in one way or the other.

By joining GMB, you’ll be working with people who actually give a damn about what they are doing and why. You have complete freedom over your time and location, so you can design an environment which enables you to thrive at your job. You will have an opportunity to learn and try things in a laid-back environment. Vacations are also encouraged and once or twice per year, you will have the opportunity to meet the team and get together in one place.

You will always have people on your side who support and push you to experiment like crazy, without missing any opportunities to crack a joke. Sounds like your kind of team? Click here to learn a bit more about them.

The GMB Fitness team is looking for a full-time Operations Manager to join them and keep the team on plan and make sure important-but-boring maintenance tasks are scheduled and tracked. You will also make sure to return to tasks after urgent & one-off projects are completed, as well as keep track of potential projects and ideas so that the founders can evaluate them properly and make detailed plans for their execution

The three key areas of focus will include

🟣Maintaining priority focus in the project and task planning

🟣Keeping the team accountable to their commitments and goals

🟣Developing and improving processes across different services and roles

GMB Fitness is moving to a really exciting phase as a company. They are a known leader in their space, and they have worked with over 100k clients. The right person in this role is going to be helping steer a crazy and deeply involved group of people toward realising their potential for growth and service.

This is an exciting and dynamic role where you will get to work with a funny and smart team that changes people’s lives. The team will support you and encourage your personal growth and learning; also, they’ll probably send you a wildly inappropriate and useful present at some point.

More specifically, within this role, you will:

  • Help with planning and assigning tasks and projects
  • Track tasks and project progress
  • Maintain the sync between discussions, meetings, project management tools, and other reporting systems
  • Document and enforce processes and create SOPs, especially when the team gets busy
  • Follow up with ideas and deprioritised projects to make sure nothing falls through the cracks
  • Interact with most of the team, report to Amber, the People/Community Manager, and work closely with Andy and Jarlo (2/3 founders) as well

As you join the company, the team will organise onboarding and training in their system and processes; they will teach you how their products, systems and tools work. You will also get to know the individual team members and their weaknesses and abilities. The team also expects you to quickly hit the ground running by working on projects and tasks that are currently in progress. GMB Fitness believes in continuous improvement, so additional training and learning opportunities are something they support.

To excel in this role, you need to have:

  • 1+ year(s) of experience with organising a team of 10-20 people, especially under a management system like EOS, Scaling Up, etc.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, e.g. Basecamp, Clickup, Slack, GSuite, Dropbox, etc.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to build robust systems
  • Ability to coordinate across the team members and the tasks assigned to them i.e. how people work, which tasks they are completing, etc.
  • Ability to work asynchronously while still communicating effectively with the team and ensuring prompt/timely delivery of tasks
  • Ability to give and receive direct feedback, and not to be offended by awful jokes :)

Brownie points for:

  • Experience using Zapier, email marketing automation tools (Drip or Convertkit, etc.), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Segmetrics, or similar)
  • Experience with online courses and/or coaching, and an understanding of how products and online education work (and why most of them are bad)
  • Knowledge of how to post videos and use social media
  • Experience with software teams using Jira or HelpScout

What’s in it for you?

  • $2500 - $3500* per month
  • Full-time and fully remote role as an independent contractor
  • Autonomy in how, when and where you work
  • Ability to set your own working hours – the team is used to working asynchronously. However, some overlap with the team on the US West Coast (between 9am to 1pm PT) would be necessary due to the nature of your role, especially for monthly/weekly meetings
  • Professional growth opportunities based on your contributions and company growth
  • Updated computers as necessary once every two years after the 3-month trial period
  • Funding/subsidies of courses, books and other learning resources that are related to your role
  • Vacation / team retreat opportunities
  • Opportunity to join any of the actual courses and training that GMB provides for its clients

*Please note that this is a gross salary and that you are responsible for any tax-related procedures in your country of residence. We kindly ask you to apply only if you are happy to work remotely as an independent contractor.
