Looking for a remote work opportunity that allows you to communicate with awesome pet brands and build rewarding relationships while working independently on your own time?

We may have the perfect job for you!

K9 of Mine (www.k9ofmine.com) – a dog-care website dedicated to providing pet parents with the information and resources necessary to be top-notch dog owners – is currently seeking a new team member to help us reach the next level!

Over the past few years, the site has grown a lot. In fact, we now have over 1 million web visits each month! This is obviously a good “problem” to have, but it means that we have to expand our team in response.

Specifically, it means that we need someone to help in two basic areas: We need someone to manage some of our brand relationships and help extend our reach even further.

Read on to learn about the specific responsibilities we need our new team member to fulfill, as well as the skills this new contributor will need.

Responsibility Part 1: Affiliate Partner Management

As we’ve grown, an increasing number of pet-oriented brands and manufacturers have begun wanting to partner with us.

This is where you come in.

We need your help to sort through the numerous requests we get each week to promote various pet-oriented products, separating the garbage from the good stuff we may be interested in reviewing.

You’ll respond to the best brands, explain the details of our partnership plans, and negotiate article placement.

In a nutshell: We need someone to manage and organize inbound affiliate partner requests, negotiate rates, and track payments. You’ll also need to pass on the details of finalized partnerships to our editor, so the content can be created and placed.

Some of your day-to-day tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Review new potential affiliate partnership prospects via the K9 of Mine contact form and email inbox
  • Add and organize potential affiliate partnerships to the ClickUp affiliate board
  • Negotiate affiliate partnership rates and commissions
  • Nurture existing relationships through regular email correspondence
  • Be willing to communicate with current and potential partners in a variety of ways (including email, video calls, and phone calls - with 90% contact being via email)
  • Submit the details of new and ongoing partnerships to our editor who’ll have the new content generated and placed

Responsibility Part 2: Link Building

Our team is small, and we haven’t been able to give link building the attention it deserves. This is unfortunate as we have created an array of amazing resources, from training worksheets to dog body language guides.

These resources can help pet parents improve the lives of their four-footers, and we’d like to get them in front of more eyes.

So, we need you to promote these resources to third-party websites and brands in an effort to build links to the K9 of Mine website.

To accomplish this, you’ll need some general knowledge of SEO and link-building strategies, such as the skyscraper technique.

In a nutshell: We need someone to manage and organize outreach link building efforts and promote our existing resources and content to relevant websites. You’ll also need to manage virtual assistants tasked with collecting outreach data, and maintain relationships with other websites and prospects.

Some of your day-to-day tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Find guest post opportunities
  • Analyze our clients’ industries and key competitors
  • Determine viable link building strategies
  • Build strong prospect lists for outreach campaigns, filter out weak opportunities and make sense of the reasons prospects would be interested in partnering with us
  • Craft compelling email pitches that grab people's attention
  • Communicate with other members of our team, and collaborate on ideas
  • Delegate tasks to virtual assistants
  • Meet monthly link targets
  • Maintain existing guest post relationships

About You: The Types of Candidates We’re Seeking

We anticipate that it will require approximately 35 hours per week to complete these tasks. But you will perform this work remotely, and you’ll have the ability to set your own schedule (aside from some tasks, which will need to be performed during typical business hours).

Some specifics, experience, and qualifications you should have include:

  • Some experience in sales, outreach, or client relationship management
  • We are open to candidates from any location in the world, but you must have command of written and oral English, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with our team and potential partners
  • You have experience working remotely and possess the tools necessary to do so (including a phone, computer, and reliable internet connection)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • A basic understanding of SEO and link-building techniques, strategies, and best practices
  • The ability to distinguish promising partners from those who don’t align with our goals

Bonus points if you’re familiar with:

  • ClickUp
  • Wordpress
  • Mailshake
  • Google Analytics
  • Ahrefs

And obviously, you’ll need to be a dog lover!

You needn’t have decades of dog-care experience, but you do need to be passionate about four-footers and familiar with the basics of their care. And while you don’t necessarily need to be a current dog owner, it certainly won’t hurt your chances.

What Our Chosen Candidate Can Expect: Working with K9 of Mine

The first couple weeks working for K9 of Mine will entail meeting team members, learning the ins and outs of the tools you’ll be using, and understanding our partners, business model, and the details of our daily workflow.

You’ll work with our editor in chief, who currently manages the affiliate partnership process. You’ll also complete training related to link building and partner with our founder on some link-building campaigns.

During your first three months at K9 of Mine, you will be tasked with responding to all inbound partnership inquiries and will execute 20 link-building campaigns.

What You Get:

  • 21 paid days off per year (scheduled in advance), plus a paid “Birthday Funday” each year to enjoy as you wish
  • Paid federal holidays
  • A flexible, 35-hour weekly work schedule; however, you must be available for at least 3 hours each day in the eastern time zone (GMT -4)
  • Compensation of between $2000 and $2500 per month, commensurate with experience and skill set
  • Regular performance reviews and potential compensation increases

How to Apply

If you are interested in joining our team, please click the Apply button to fill out the following Google Form, along with a copy of your resume and a cover letter.

We will collect responses and get back to you within two weeks of receiving your application.

For the question “what is your favorite type of dog” make sure to answer with “all dogs”

About Us

K9 of Mine was started in 2015 by a dog owner who wanted to help pet parents better understand and connect with their pets. By doing so, we hope to improve the lives of four-footers everywhere.

We advocate for compassionate pet-care approaches, such as the use of positive-reinforcement-based training techniques, and prioritize science-based husbandry principles. We also realize that pet parenthood is not always an easy road to travel, so we try our best to educate owners in an understanding, non-judgemental manner.
