Hello there!

MonetizeMyExpertise is currently seeking to expand their team with a visual designer who is capable of talking to clients as well as creating some great designs based on their requirement and feedback. Your designs need to be compatible with the message that our clients are looking to spread to their students.

Think about it like this...

Do you like building things that make people go "wow, that's amazing!"

Do you love it when your design can speak just as loudly as words?

Want to work from home, or Buenos Aires, or Hawaii?

This is a fully remote, full-time position in a team working from different parts of the world. Our team has seven core members, and our sights are on $500k revenue over the next year. To achieve that, we are looking for a HIGHLY autonomous and growth oriented designer who can take written ideas and help visualize them.

We would love to hire someone that live first and foremost for doing great work they can be proud of, and always striving to learn, grow, do better, and help the organization they are part of to do the same.

MonetizeMyExpertise has an informal culture, and we don't care if you work in a suite or your pajamas. Your professionalism and work ethic should show in your work when you communicate with our clients. Salary is competitive and based on milestones. We help create courses for knowledge experts out there, so they can monetize their expertise.

Your skillset:

  • You enjoy making beautiful things that communicate information effectively. For example, a pretty infographic, not a painting.
  • An excellent problem solver
  • Relationship-oriented and focused on helping others. Your goal is to understand what the client wants visually and make it a reality....then make it even better than they imagined.
  • Can-do attitude. Ok, I know that is a cheesy way of saying it. But basically, if you don't know how to do something your default response should be "I don't know, but I'll figure it out ASAP."
  • Fluent / Perfect English. I only hire 100% fluent English speakers. It can be your second language (it is for several people on our team), but it needs to be damn good because we are a distributed team, so ultra clear communication is essential.
  • A passion for online courses, education, learning, teaching, and helping people
  • Drive to learn. Due to the nature of this job it is essential that you have the perspective and drive to learn anything you need to learn - this role is centered around learning and then teaching (via creating courses)
  • Great attitude. You must have an amazing attitude and be able to perform at your best even if you are jet-lagged, stressed, and confused about what you should be doing. *Deep breath, ok, what do I need to do next?*. If you need to be told what to do on a daily basis, this is not for you. You will need to have ownership of the things you do once you are trained on how to do them.
  • Insanely reliable. There is a lot more to this position than existing skills. Dependability and responsiveness are more important to me than anything. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d take a dependable apprentice with a good attitude who is a seven regarding skills over an unresponsive apprentice with a bad attitude who is a ten any day.
  • Are very organized and never miss deadlines or important details
  • Superlative attention to detail. Our programs rely heavily on your work. We’ll count on you to surface and resolve issues along the way, as the integrity of your final product must be unquestionable.

Preferred:

  • Experience building online courses
  • Video editing skills
  • Animation skills
  • Familiarity with e-learning Management Systems
  • Experience working with a distributed team
  • Project management skills

People who would probably not find this opportunity interesting or rewarding:

  • People who only check their email once a week and respond to it once a month.
  • People who say they will do something by tomorrow but then deliver it next week
  • People who are passive-aggressive or uncomfortable communicating directly
  • People who can only do work "when they feel inspired." Inspiration is overrated.
  • People in it just for the money. This is for someone growth-oriented.
  • Those who half-ass things. Everyone on our team works really, really hard. We do it with autonomy and because we inherently enjoy doing great work.

What we do:

MYE is a course production company - we create online courses and training for people and companies by doing all of the heavy liftings for them. Rather than running in circles for 6-12 months or more trying to figure out how to build an online course, we do it for it, and it only ends up taking a few hours of their time, and the result is world-class.

All our clients do is show up on a series of interview calls with us, and then take a few hours to record the audio from an outline we provide to them, and we do the rest. It takes them about 25 hours total (instead of 12 months), and we do all the work outlining their course, incorporating any other materials they might have, creating slides, worksheets, quizzes and more, editing the videos into a finished course.

What you'll be responsible for...

1. Speaking with a client, understanding their exact design preferences, then building something amazing that they love

2. Producing course slides with an extremely high level of detail and quality

3. Flexibly meeting project and client needs

4. Keeping the design elements of course projects on track and schedule through Slack, Basecamp, and Asana

5. Designing worksheets, quizzes, and other instructional design elements

6. Working with a team of dynamic colleagues all over the world

Important: There are a lot of designers out there that have lots of experience doing things professionally. There are two things expected of you: 1) You have had experience directly producing materials for online courses (teaching and sales) and 2) you are NOT at all set in your ways. Our designers need to be flexible because they will be doing things many designers have never done before, and will have to produce radically kinds of different materials based on the clients

Salary

Our salary is based on every project you undertake and successfully complete. Our current designer can do one every 7-10 days, which means that she can complete 3-4 projects per week. Each project pays between $600 and $750 - based on the level of your seniority. Even though this is per-project fees, we are looking for someone who is available to work full time, and will be passionate about making a difference with us!

And remember, there's bonus based on your performance too. This is 40+ hours a week job - and if you put in more hours, you get more done, you get paid more - simple as that!

Have you found yourself depicted in the posting above?

Then, don’t hesitate to write me a brief letter about why you think you’d be a great fit for this position. Also, please attach a portfolio of your support and data entry work.

To successfully apply, please start your letter with “Hi MonetizeMyExpertise, I want to help you grow.” Also, include your portfolio, so we don't have to waste time going back and forth asking for it!

The strongest candidates will be contacted about the further steps of the selection.

Looking forward to reading your application!
