Background To The Role

This is a hands-on and varied role that plays a key part in the creation of websites, editing existing clients websites, technical SEO among other day-to-day tasks. You will play a key & important role within the business that requires proactive project leadership to push the development & improvement of our existing sites and upcoming sites forward. The role requires strong working relationships with the Technical, Content, SEO & Management teams and a desire to learn the latest front-end skills, design, UI/UX trends and technology to add value, skills and help us excel ahead of our competition.

Location & Times

This job is fully remote and we can be flexible with times according to your time zone but ideally your working days/times would be: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm BST and includes a 30min paid break. You are free to take as many other breaks during the day as you require as long as you work 7.5 hours a day.

What is the job?

Primarily the role involves working with Shopify and other Content Management Systems (Such as WordPress). You will be a keen problem solving and enjoy the challenge of finding creative and complex solutions to problems which fit the client’s requirements. Skills in ES6 JavaScript (& beyond flavours of JavaScript), HTML5 and CSS3 (inc. frameworks) and any other relevant technologies would be ideal. The successful candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm in design, UI/UX Development & an eye for solid design principles such as Material Design.

You will be involved in editing client’s sites in WordPress (WooCommerce), Shopify, Laravel & other CMS’s & platforms.

You will be responsible for ensuring that work is delivered in accordance with latest best practice regarding performance, UI design, functionality, and accessibility. Your contributions will work in sync with the input from our design and content teams.

General JS and HTML bug fixing work, page speed/performance improvements will be a requirement at times, and you will be enthusiastic in turning these around quickly to get back to the good stuff! What Skills You Must Have

• Experience working with Content Management Systems, especially Shopify and working with liquid syntax, conditional logic and theme edits.
• Demonstratable skills in HTML, CSS3, JS (ES6 & future versions), jQuery
• A solid grasp of UX / UI best practises
• PHP & Frameworks such as Laravel or alternatives
• Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, Photoshop, Figma
• Experience of working with strict brand guidelines, requirements
• Comfortable working with VScode
• Experience working with and customising WordPress
• Experience with Ecommerce Sites
• Web Responsiveness
• A portfolio of previous work or a list of websites & features you have worked on (this can be github or bitbucket repos)
• Enthusiasm to explore new technologies and keep up-to-date of industry advancements in Web Development & SEO & anything technical

What Skills Would Be A Bonus

• CSS (SASS or LESS) pre-processing & CSS minification
• Minifying Javascript & assets within Shopify to improve page speed
• Some exposure to backend development & working with 3rd party APIs
