Your average day at DuCargo
First, you check in with the team on Slack and respond to any messages that might be left for you while you were away. In the daily meeting you hear if any new issues came up, assess if you can help with them and check if there are any colleagues that need help to move on.
Then you go and check Jira and organize the day’s tasks (assigned and in progress) and check-up on progress on pending tasks. When starting something new you create a new branch and start working on the task at hand.
When you reach natural points of stability during the day you write a descriptive commit message and push your local branch, and if the task is completed you open a PR for review. This is a good time to grab a cup of coffee and review someone else’s PR for them.
We work in multi-week sprints to protect our developers from ever-changing requirements, so when a sprint is planned a developer knows what to do for the next couple of weeks. How we organize the sprints is reviewed regularly in the sprint retrospective meetings.
About DuCargo
Our product was first developed 6 years ago as a custom software platform for one of our customers. We’ve always seen opportunities to expand on the concept and in 2017 we finally partnered with our main customer and are now redeveloping the software into a generic rate management and price-finding platform. We are bootstrapped and currently growing our 3-person team to match the growing interest in the platform.
DuCargo is a platform for shippers, freight-forwarders, shipping departments of large corporations and freight-rate procurement associations to manage the rates they negotiate
with container shipment carriers as well as incorporating smart search algorithms to combine these rates into price information that can be compared and evaluated.
We have some great launching customers and there seems to be a lot of interest from the shipping industry, to replace their (mostly) Excel-based rate management with a more effective solution.
This is a remote position in a team working in different parts of the world. It doesn’t matter in which time zone you are currently based in, as long as you make it to our required daily meetings.
We have an informal working culture and we communicate in a professional but amicable way. We look for dedication and professionalism while giving you creative freedom. We all contribute to the success of our company, and all colleagues play a part in our success. We want people who believe in our product as much as we do. In return, we give you the flexibility to work in your most motivating environment.
We’d love to build a multi-cultural company with people from all over the world working on creating the best products to give our customers.
