Are you a talented designer looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of creative professionals? Look no further than Big Sea!

As a Designer at Big Sea, you will be responsible for creating high-quality websites, marketing campaigns, and various forms of collateral for their clients. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with design and other cross-functional teams to create inspiring creative solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, with clients ranging from nonprofits, healthcare, and B2B businesses.

More specifically, within this role, you will:

  • Work with the Art Director, Senior Art Director, and Creative Director to create high-performing design solutions that meet design standards but also deliver on strategic goals.
  • Collaborate and maintain a positive relationship across all teams, ensuring that creative deliverables meet the requirements of each department.
  • Be an advocate for consistent and cohesive design throughout the company.
  • Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audience.
  • Track trends of design and integrate them into your work to ensure relevance.
  • Manage scheduling and coordination of project deliverables with account managers.
  • Work with your POD (team) daily and report to the Senior Art Director.

At Big Sea, the team has a strong onboarding process that takes approximately 2 weeks, and there is plenty of support from the team. During this time, you will get familiar with the team, the tools, processes, and clients. There will be design tasks during this time as well, so you can hit the ground running and start contributing to the team.

Our ideal candidate has about 3-5 years of experience and is passionate about creating exceptional design work. You can work independently, but also know when to ask for direction and feedback. You are extremely collaborative and thrive off sharing your work with the team. You possess strong organisation and communication skills and have the ability to work under tight deadlines. Most importantly, you're passionate and care about the quality of your work.

More specifically, to excel in this role, you need to have:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in a design team and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Figma.
  • Working knowledge of design foundations such as typography, grids, hierarchy, scale, composition, and colour theory.
  • Experience creating design systems for the web.
  • A strong design vocabulary and the ability to communicate design concepts to clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, motivated attitude, and a high standard of personal excellence.
  • Team-oriented approach to working – you share the company's core values.
  • Willingness to participate in Zoom calls, internal meetings, and organisational tasks.
  • A strong design experience and understanding of marketing initiatives; you can create high-performing design solutions that meet design standards while delivering on strategic goals.
