UKTG is looking for its next key team member: a Data Engineer with experience in Python, PostgreSQL/SQL who will help the team be more data-driven and be responsive in growing their network.

If you are looking for a chance to take ownership of a greenfield analytics project while being mentored by someone with 20 years of IT experience, this is the perfect role for you!

More specifically, within this role, you will:

  • Build data pipelines in apache airflow consuming all of their relevant data sources.
  • Work with the Tech Lead, Chris, to build a data warehouse in order to provide the business with critical metrics.
  • Show off your PostgreSQL skills running ad-hoc query requests that come up.
  • Support the web team in any data synchronisations they need as part of their migration from the old website to the new
  • Create Dashboards to support stakeholders in getting answers to data questions
  • Think proactively about the data problems the team is going to need to solve. e.g. Where/When can they start applying ML algorithms? What infrastructure do they need in place as they scale? etc.

In your first weeks at UKTG, you will get up to speed with all of their infrastructure and current data solutions. You will also build and test data pipelines in apache airflow, as well as continue the ongoing work of building a data warehouse. Chris, the Tech Lead at UKTG, will assign you tasks, as well as help you with the onboarding process.

To excel in this role, you need to have:

  • Python experience working with data, ideally between 2-3 years, & a passion and understanding for libraries in the python data ecosystem such as pandas
  • PostgreSQL/SQL experience ideally between 2-3 years and in a business intelligence/analytics context
  • A university degree in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
  • Ability to produce well-tested code
  • Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to meet their data needs
  • Great attitude to solving problems & a passion for technology
  • Great (business) English skills & technical data literacy
  • Excellent work ethic

Brownie points for any web development experience in Python (e.g., Django, Flask).
