Okanagan Survey & Design is seeking a talented and experienced Civil 3D Design Engineer to join their team.

The Civil 3D Design Engineer role is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for flexibility, growth, and development. At OSDC, the Civil 3D Design Engineer will have the opportunity to work with an amazing team and contribute to projects that are revolutionising the heavy civil industry. With this being a remote and flexible role, you will have the freedom to work from the comfort of your own home.

More specifically, within this role, you will:

  • Create standards, procedures, and workflows between field crews and drafting
  • Process survey data and compute traverse adjustments
  • Create topographic drawings from survey data
  • Create grading plans from PDF drawings
  • Build complex grading and 3D models from PDF
  • Adopt OSDC's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Enrol and complete certification in OSDC's tech training program
  • Compile information necessary for staking projects for construction, using engineering plans
  • Effectively communicate with team members, clients, engineers, and partners
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant standards affecting land and construction surveying
  • Comply with the general company quality system and procedures
  • Deliver survey projects within time, cost, quality, and safety targets
  • Represent the company to the customer, subcontractors, and the public in a professional and ethical manner
  • Maintain the company image in all facets of work and presentation
  • Comply with governance policies, procedures, or processes
  • Interact with field survey techs, the Operations Manager, the Survey Lead, and the CEO

In the first weeks on the job, you will be tasked with developing the drafting division of OSDC. You will also get to know the team, be introduced to OSDC's standards, and work with the field survey team, Operations Manager, and CEO to develop processes and procedures.

This is a challenging role that requires someone who is detail-oriented, organised, and able to work independently. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a passion for developing others. To excel in this role, you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or surveying
  • 5 years of experience using Civil 3D
  • Experience with construction sites and machine control
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficiency in MS365
  • Access to a computer that meets the minimum requirements for Civil 3D
  • A quiet and distraction-free work environment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Strong leadership skills, motivation, excellent English and communication abilities, team player mentality, and eagerness to learn
  • Design experience in a surveying and civil environment
  • Scheduling and project management experience

Brownie points for:

  • Experience in construction project management and estimating
  • Experience with machine control
  • Possession of a Civil 3D license (licence can be provided for the right candidate)
