US-based food-focused travel blog (Foodie Flashpacker) is looking to hire a blog manager to help with pre-publication work on blog posts as well as some post-publication promotion work.

About the position:

The ideal candidate would have experience blogging, specifically working with Gutenberg within WordPress. Your role would be to:

  • source photos to accompany blog posts
  • resize/label/upload photos and insert them into blog posts
  • find and insert links to Google Maps for businesses specified in posts
  • structure posts with H1, H2, and H2 formatting
  • link to other relevant posts found on the site
  • after publication reach out to tourism boards and individual businesses encouraging them to share the posts

Skills that would be helpful but are not requirements: (please mention any of these skills that you possess when applying for the position)

  • the ability to create Lumen5 videos
  • Pinterest or Canva design experience
  • familiarity with RankMath or working knowledge of basic SEO is helpful but I do not expect you to be an SEO expert.

I will also be working with you to develop SOPs to streamline your tasks and publication process.

This is suitable for someone who is hard-working, who really wants to learn and grow, develop their skills, prove themselves and take on more responsibility.

This is a part-time position and you should expect to work approximately 20 hours per week. There will be a 3-month trial period for the role to check that we are a good match for each other (fully paid of course).

About us:

  • a small team of fully remote workers - you would have the ability to work from anywhere in the world. This fully remote role is a great opportunity for someone to really develop their skills and take on more responsibility as the site grows. You will report directly to the company owner and would have limited communication with other team members and freelancers. During training, we will have weekly Zoom meetings or Skype calls where you can address any concerns or ask for further guidance. After training, we can schedule video meetings as needed to address concerns as they arise.
  • we have lots of great things in development, and you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in everything from email marketing, landing page creation and affiliate marketing.
  • full support will be provided when you first start working with us, including training on how to do each thing you work on.

About you:

The ideal candidate should be organized, focused, detail-oriented, able to independently prioritize tasks, and proficient in English.

You will not be responsible for creating or editing content but all of our communications and your post-publication promotion will be completely in English.

I'm looking for someone who is hardworking, productive, and ready to hit the ground running. I have a backlog of work that needs to be completed quickly which is why I'm looking to hire immediately.

You'll need access to consistently reliable internet with good speeds.

If you are a blogger or have an interest in blogging this would be a great opportunity to gain valuable experience learning how a successful blog works- as long as you're committed to not starting or working for a competing blog.

As mentioned we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, so when applying for this position use the word pineapple in the subject line.

Interested in this position?

How to Apply:

  • apply here on JobRack, making sure to link your CV or resume to the application.
  • in the same message include a link to a short video introducing yourself, briefly going over your qualifications, and tell me why you're the right person for this job. Don't stress out over making this video perfect- I'm not looking for a Hollywood cinematic-style production. Feel free to use Loom or a comparable program or service to record the video, being sure to keep the video less than 5 minutes long.
  • please include your email address so I can contact you for an interview. If selected for an interview I will contact you personally.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
