Automation & Interface Specialist [CLOSED]

Full Time or Part Time 900.00 - 2500.00 USD Type: Monthly

Stride is a bookkeeping, accounting, and strategic advisory services firm providing outsourced services and analytics solutions for high-growth professional service firms. Stride is a 100% remote workforce company, capable of serving clients around the United States.

Stride is undertaking a unique and revolutionary approach to accounting through automation efforts. They have successfully begun standardising and automating accounting procedures. Stride created an automated workflow tool to maximise efficiency and drive process improvements through a robust set of analytics, helping them deliver higher-quality services to their clients.

Right now, Stride is looking for an Automation and Interface Specialist to go into different business processes which are currently manual and figure out ways to automate these processes with given tools.

The key areas of focus in this role will include:

🔵 Creating, coordinating, and managing custom automations

🔵 Creating advanced forms via 3rd party low code tools, such as Airtable, Softr and Bubble

This is an exciting and dynamic role where you will have the chance to work with a highly skilled team while taking ownership in automation projects. You will have an opportunity to dive into all kinds of business processes and talk to the experts to identify their needs, work with (and learn from) the software development team to determine the solution architectures, and develop creative solutions to ease the lives of your colleagues by automating their manual workload.

More specifically, within this role, you will:

  • Create low-code front-ends (e.g., with Softr and Bubble) on top of Airtable databases to allow interaction with the data by the users
  • Automate manual workflows to process and move data (e.g., through Integromat/Make) to different places (e.g., Asana tasks, Google Drive files, emails, etc.)
  • Establish connections to APIs to read and write data between systems
  • Work with the operational and technical teams to analyse, define, and document requirements for data collection/verification, and process workflows and technical interfaces
  • Work and interact with the Software Engineering team members, and some members of the Operations team and the Executive team

As you join the company during the onboarding process, you will go through the existing automation, and you will be introduced to the existing processes so that you can start thinking of ways to automate them. You will collaborate closely with the software development team, and you will iterate on a new project as soon as possible.

To excel in this role, you need to have:

  • 2+ years of experience with HTTP requests and APIs
  • 2+ years of experience with low-code front-end tools
  • 2+ years of experience in Python3
  • Knowledge of/experience with SQL
  • University degree e.g., a Bachelor of Science in CS/IT
  • Highly organised, logical and structured thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to work within a fast-paced, remote, and distributed team environment
  • Drive to search for work and improvements that can be done instead of waiting for the tasks to be assigned

Brownie points for:

  • 2+ years of experience with Airtable, and Integromat/Make
  • Experience with Softr/Bubble or other low-code front-end tools on Airtable
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks Online (QBO), Bill.com, Expensify, Connectwise, Google Workspace, and/or Asana
  • Data extraction/ETL workflows experience
  • API development experience
  • DevOps experience
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform

What’s in it for you?

  • $1800 - $2500* per month for full-time
  • $900 - $1250* per month for part-time
  • Fully remote employment
  • Full-time or part-time position
  • Flexible working hours as long as commitments are honoured and communication abundant
  • Salary increases based on performance
  • Huge scope for project-based growth
  • Opportunity to go from task-ownership to project ownership-based on performance

*Please note that this is a gross salary and that you are responsible for any tax-related procedures in your country of residence. We kindly ask you to apply only if you are happy to work remotely as an independent contractor.

At Stride, the team lives by a code of principles. It is how they engage with each other as colleagues and how they interact with their clients and partners. Everything maps back to principles. It is the framework upon which they have committed to building an organisation driven by a purpose to help those with a thirst for continuous improvement achieve their highest and best use. Curious about their principles? You can see them here:

🔵 Harness the Wisdom of the Group

This principle is the premise that in many types of decisions, a group of people working together will make a superior decision to any single individual acting alone.

🔵 Make and Honour Commitments

Commitments are a declaration made for a specific individual to take a specified action by a specified date. Making and Honouring Commitments is a foundation for trust. Great ways to build trust include letting people know, “I got this.”, backing up your commitments with documentation, and renegotiating your commitments as soon as you realise you won’t honour them.

🔵 Invest in Ourselves and Each Other

Investing in Ourselves and Each Other means that Stride is a platform for both personal and professional growth. They aim to create an environment where individuals can express their intentions or goals and there is a culture of both accountability and encouragement to succeed.

🔵Empowerment Works

At its most basic level, empowerment comes from understanding and trusting the Principles. If you are following the Principles, everything will work out. If you don’t, there will be massive variation in outcome. The idea of empowerment is to create an environment where employees are more engaged because they have the autonomy to do their job. Generally, employees that feel empowered have a higher likelihood of thriving, enjoying their work, and staying around.

🔵 Have and Practice Empathy

Empathy is the ability to step into the shoes of another person, aiming to understand their feelings and perspectives, and to use that understanding to guide our actions. That makes it different from kindness or pity. And don’t confuse it with the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” As George Bernard Shaw pointed out, “Do not do unto others as you would have them do unto you—they might have different tastes.” Empathy is about discovering those tastes.

🔵Embrace Reality and Deal With It

The only way to learn how things truly are is to push yourself to action. Once we have acted in the world we can start to see how it acts back. Does it conform to our assumptions? No? Then we’ve just learned by embracing reality.

🔵Use the 6-Step Process

There is a standard formulaic process that increases the probability of success in achieving what you want in life. The 6-Step Process applies in virtually every situation. It is as follows:

  1. Locate yourself (are you open and curious or defensive and righteous?)
  2. Create a clear goal
  3. Identify and diagnose the problems and root causes of achieving that goal
  4. Design a plan
  5. Push through to completion
  6. Learn and iterate

🔵 It’s Okay to Make Mistakes and Unacceptable Not to Learn From Them

High-performing cultures have an environment where mistakes are not only allowed but encouraged, on one condition — that there is learning from that mistake to avoid it happening in the future.

🔵Get and Stay in Sync

How do they do that? By making sure they are communicating with each other and their clients with integrity (how they feel is aligned with what they say). Here is how we do that:

  • Assume good intention
  • Work on the context before content
  • 100% of drama in life is due to a lack of an impeccable shared agreement
  • Differentiate between facts, stories, and feelings
  • Don’t be afraid to ask a question that may sound stupid because 99% of the time everyone else is thinking of the same question and is too embarrassed to ask it.
  • Being able to listen well is a superpower. While listening to someone you love, keep asking them “Is there more?”, until there is no more.

🔵 Hire Well and Continually Train

Hiring right is a combination of hiring for fit and hiring for culture. They don’t just bring people on the team, but they continue to train them (in both their area of responsibility as well as their cultural contribution) because a machine with a broken element begins to tear down the infrastructure.

🔵 Be Relentless About Creating the Impossibly Perfect Machine

People-driven businesses are inherently variable, and it is the primary reason why many are not able to grow and maintain quality. Their opportunity is to think of our business as a machine and continue to improve it and fortify the structure so that it is not (i) susceptible to catastrophic failure and (ii) can support rapid growth.

🔵Optimise for Goals and Not for Tasks

It’s easy to focus on the urgent at the expense of the important. By focusing on outcomes, not tasks, they lessen the likelihood of doing this.

This position will be closed as soon as we find the perfect match. So, make sure to read the description carefully and take your time to submit a high-quality application that stands out.
