3rd Line Engineer

As a 3rd Line Engineer at Impact IT, your role will involve handling both project and support tasks related to 3rd Line IT activities. This will include working with servers, virtualization, networks, Active Directory, Device Management (InTune), and other relevant systems as needed.

The main objective of this role is to establish an effectively managed project workflow system and take the lead in all project deliveries. The primary focus is on defining project scopes, resource allocation, and successful project execution. Additionally, the role includes a secondary responsibility of offering advanced 3rd-line support to other engineers and clients.

In this role, you will:

🚀 Handle project delivery (scoping, resourcing, management) and service delivery (support).

🔄 Develop and enhance internal processes (and systems) to boost ROI and enhance project efficiency.

🔧 Manage and advance client projects, handling both project management and technical delivery when necessary.

💼 Maintain, manage, support, and deliver IT systems for clients.

🤝 Assist 2nd-line engineers with project and support activities.

🗓️ Project manage client projects to ensure timely delivery of the necessary solutions.

⏰ This is a full-time role, and working hours are:

• Regular Office hours: 9 AM to 5:30 PM
• Helpdesk hours: 8:30 AM to 6 PM
• Additionally, there may be a requirement for out-of-hours support on rare occasions when needed.

To excel in this role, you need to have:

✅ 3-5 years experience at 3rd level within an MSP (managed service provider) managing and delivering projects for clients (of all sizes and across all areas).

✅ Advanced knowledge in all areas of IT expected of a 3rd line (Powershell, Intune, Networking - Cisco or Unifi, VMs, Servers, Azure, VPNs, and desktop - regardless of device or OS).

✅ Proficiency in project delivery methodologies.

✅ Demonstrated team leadership and development skills.

✅ Advanced Networking, Server, VM, Hyper V, VPNs, and foundational stack (Microsoft, Apple, Google, Linux).

✅ Expertise in IT project and service management.

✅ Understanding of process optimization methodologies.

✅ Capability to perform data analysis and reporting.

✅ Experience in leading and developing teams.

✅ Strong client relationship management skills.

Brownie points for:

• Experience with virtualised environments (VMs, HyperV) and/or experience configuring cisco and unifi equipment
• Familiarity with Connectwise (ERP system, popular amongst IT companies)
• Desktop support/printing experience
